Spatial Database and Its Application in Geographic Information System for Telecommunications: A Real Experience in Telekom Serbia

In this paper a spatial database for telecommunications geographic information system and its applications are presented. This spatial database has been created using methodology established at the Computer Graphic and GIS Lab at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering in Nis. This database is essential part of telecommunications GIS GeoTT which is intended to input, store, retrieve and show data on telecommunications cable network, as well as to help in evidencing, management and maintenance of this network. Several applications of this spatial database, such as fault repairing, determining of technical solution in establishment of subscriber’s relationships, as well as dispatching field installer, are described in this paper also.
